ABOUT ME

Welcome! I’m Sande Woodson, and I am so glad to have you visit my blog! I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Dan, for half a century, have two grown daughters and 6 amazing grandkids! I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old, and that has taken many forms over the years — elementary school teaching, 23 years in ministry with my husband, and for the last decade being a university dean and faculty member.

When we retired to the last frontier, Alaska, I had time to explore crafting, and I discovered that I absolutely LOVE card making! I joined Altenew’s Educator Certification Program, and the rest, as they say, is history! I became a Certified Educator in October 2020, and I was blessed to receive the Altenew Educator of the Year Award for 2021!

I find that handmade cards touch people’s hearts, and that’s what I am all about. I love to mix my years of teaching experience with sharing card-making techniques with anyone who wants to learn!

Sande, I finally got time to look through your site. Your cards are beautiful. I think the garden treasure one is my favourite but all are incredible. I am happy you have found a “therapy” in card making. Mine is definitely sewing and oil painting tho I haven’t done much besides sewing for a long time.
John found me a golf cart for my birthday so I can buzz up and down to the lake. YAY!
I hope someday we will be able to just call each other and say “how about lunch today?” Hopefully in 2021. Hugs, Maureen

Maureen, for some reason I just now saw your comment on my blog! Thanks so much for leaving it. I am loving this whole cardmaking adventure… and even more since we’ve been quarantined! As soon as we get past this COVID nightmare, we will party big time!!! ???

I just discovered your website via the Altenew blog. So excited to read about “Poema”. I have never heard of that before. Also, loved your story of your life’s journey. I love to try to bless friends and family via cards. I am a novice, but pray that I can make someone’s day just a bit brighter with a card.

Oh Gayle, I’m so glad you “found” me! Eph. 2:10 is one of my favorite verses, and it talks about how WE are God’s creative handiwork. It gives me a purpose for all of my cardmaking endeavors. Blessings to you ~ ❤

    Sande,
I just found your blog, and I’m so excited to hear that you were a teacher. I just retired from teaching middle school after 38 years. I’ve been card making for about 20 years, but now I can devote more time to this craft. I am so excited about starting my own blog and joining the Altenew Educator’s Academy. I think it’s the perfect retirement activity that will stretch my skills (both crafting skills and technology skills!), and then enable me to teach others about this craft. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

      Hi Kris,

Thanks so much for leaving your comment! That’s so much like my journey. I am very blessed to be teaching in the cardmaking community now. I held a workshop yesterday and we had 47 attend on Zoom! In fact, there’s another one on 8/29. You’re welcome to come if you’d like. It’s free. The details are on the blog under “upcoming workshops.” Just let me know if you’re interested. In fact, I would love to help you or answer any questions you may have about the AECP or the journey ahead of you if you would like. Just email me at sandekw@gmail.com. 🙂

      Blessings to you!
