Altenew Build-a-Garden: Magnificent Branch Blog Hop!

This is the very first set in Altenew’s new “Build-a-Garden” category…. and it is gorgeous! It includes a stamp and a coloring stencil. The stamp is very large, which gives it so much flexibility! I stamped the image as one complete image on a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock, and then trimmed the large piece to make two separate cards using different techniques. I hope you like them!

There is also a GIVEAWAY from Altenew with this hop! [See below for details!]

My first card is made with the left side of the stamp, a beautiful single bloom:

  • The background panel is cut from colored cardstock and then run through with the Brick Wall 3D Embossing Folder.
  • I stamped the image with Morning Frost Crisp Dye Ink.
  • Next I colored it using the Warm Gray, Tranquility, Delectable Delights, & Coffee Break color families of Artist Alcohol Markers.
  • I stamped the sentiment from the set with Warm Gray ink.
  • Then I attached the front panel to the background panel with foam tape for dimension.
  • Finally I added a few colored pearls as embellishments.

For my second card, I used the right half of the stamp, which is another, larger beautiful bloom:

  • The background panel is colored cardstock.
  • I stamped the image with Morning Frost Crisp Dye Ink.
  • I colored this image with the Tranquility & Nature’s Wonders Color Families of Crisp Dye Inks, using Detailed Blending Brushes and the Coloring Stencil that goes with this set.
  • I stamped a sentiment from the set.
  • I added additional interest & texture by running the whole image through with the Beautiful Baroque 3D Embossing Folder.
  • The embellishments are plain pearls that I colored with the Nimbus Artist Alcohol Marker.

Beautiful cards, Sande! Love the coloring of the first card and the interesting way to use with an embossing folder on the second.

Great cards! I love the embossed one. That texture just “makes” the card! What a great idea.

Thank you so much for sharing your cards. You’ve opened my eyes to using dry embossing more creatively. 🙂

Very pretty. I really like the card you used an embossing folder on. Thank you for sharing that. I would never thought of doing that!
