Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit: Dynamic Blossoms Blog Hop

Today I am so happy to be participating in Altenew’s Blog Hop celebrating the release of the latest Craft Your Life Kit! I love these kits because they come full of coordinated products that all work together so well! This month’s kit includes a large floral stamp set, a set of 4 coloring stencils, several dies, and a 3D embossing folder!

I decided to make a variety of three cards initially, but I will be able to use this kit to make many more with a variety of mix-and-match elements!

ALL SUPPLIES ARE LISTED & LINKED FOR PURCHASE BELOW!

Follow these steps to make the first card:

  • Start with a piece of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ white cardstock.
  • Use a stamp platform (like a Misti) to stamp all of the layers of the floral stamp.
    • I used a light gray ink for the outline because I didn’t want it to be a bold black on the finished flowers.
    • NOTE: Using only the stamps will leave part of the flowers white. If you don’t want that look, use the stencil for Layer 1 of the stamping!
    • I used Northern Shores & Green Fields Crisp Dye Inks for my flowers.
    • After you’re finished stamping, die cut the flowers out with the enclosed die.
  • Adhere a Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece of white cardstock.
  • Die cut the Diamond Frame Cover Die from the cardstock.
  • Choose a piece of patterned paper for the back card panel. I used the blue gradient paper from the Altenew Blends Paper Pack.
  • Cut this piece down to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, & save your leftover scrap piece!
  • Remove the release paper from the back of the diamond cover die cardstock and adhere it to the patterned paper to form the background panel for the card.

  • Adhere the flowers to the back panel with foam tape to give the card some dimension.
  • Die cut the included “hello” die several times from the scrap of patterned paper that you saved.
  • Glue these layers together and then use liquid glue to adhere the hello to the card.
    • Optional: I used some Glossy Accents on the sentiment also.
  • Finish your card by adding some embellishments. I used Altenew Satin White Sequins.

Follow these steps to make Card #2:

  • Cut a piece of 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ colored cardstock.
  • Die cut the cardstock panel with the included die (pictured on the left), placing it in the top 2/3 of the panel.
  • Run the finished die cut panel through a die cut machine with the Organic Linen 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Use foam tape to adhere the front card panel to a white cardstock background panel, also cut to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
    • HINT: If I make the card again, I am going to try to use a sheet of craft foam and cut the die cut shape from it as well — instead of using foam tape. There are LOTS of little pieces to glue down!
  • Die cut the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Essential Sentiment Strips Die from thick white cardstock.
  • Glue the sentiment to the card with liquid glue.
  • You’re done! So easy, but so effective! I personally decided that the card looks perfect without any further embellishments. 🙂

To make Card #3, follow these directions:

  • Cut two background panels:
    • Shiny silver: 4″ x 5 1/4″
    • White: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Use the Arctic Blue Pigment Ink Pad to make a border around all 4 edges of the white panel.
  • After the ink dries, glue the 2 panels together with double-sided tape.
  • Cut another white panel measuring 3 3/4″ x 5″.
  • Run this panel through your die cutting machine with the included 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Use the Arctic Blue Pigment Ink Pad to swipe over the raised embossed design.
  • Cut a 1 1/2″ wide strip of heavy vellum. Use an anti-static tool, then stamp a sentiment on the vellum strip with sticky embossing ink.
    • I used the Storybook Sentiments Stamp Set.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment using Antique Silver Crisp Embossing Powder.
  • Wrap the sentiment strip around the front panel and secure on the back with double-sided adhesive tape.
  • Adhere the front card panel to the silver/blue background panel with foam tape to add dimension.
  • Finally, add some embellishments. (I used blue pearls.) All done!

Thanks Linda! I know – I am not sure why I chose those blues, but I love the way that they turned out! 🙂
